
Miguel Angel Lopez Alvarado

Miguel is a highly qualified and experienced Head of Aquatics and head swim coach at Wellington College Shanghai, coaching from beginners to the highest level in the school.
He has a National head swim coach certification from the Spanish Federation and has been a speaker at many international clinics, including the Golden Clinic at the 2018 World Championships in Hangzhou. Miguel was also the runner-up for the award as the Best competition swimming coach in Spain in 2016.
As a coach, Miguel’s athletes have achieved outstanding results, including more than 50 international swimmers, hundreds of national records for twenty different countries, and fourteen Paralympic world records. He has coached fifteen swimmers at the Tokyo Olympics, contributing to five national records. He has also coached Mie Nielsen, who ranked #1 in the world in 2017 while training with him, and ten swimmers at the 2016 South Asian Games contributing to 30 national records and 34 medals.
